T.E. Lawrence, an eccentric British Army lieutenant, is dispatched to assess the Arab tribal revolt against the Ottoman Empire during World War I and becomes an unlikely, charismatic leader of the uprising himself. Leading a grueling desert crossing and daring raids on Aqaba and Damascus, Lawrence forges a fierce bond with the Arab cause even as the violence and his own growing ego and cruelty change him in ways he can't control. David Lean's epic follows Lawrence's rise from obscure officer to legend, and his fracturing identity torn between British loyalty and his adopted Arab allegiance.
