At the 1924 Paris Olympics, two very different British runners pursue gold for different reasons. Harold Abrahams, a Jewish Cambridge student who has faced antisemitism, hires a professional coach and is driven to prove himself by defeating prejudice through victory. Eric Liddell, the devout son of Scottish missionaries, refuses to run his best race because the heats fall on a Sunday, but is given another chance and wins gold in a different event. Both men triumph in their own way, each guided by his own convictions.
