Antonio Albajar, an aging writer newly awarded the Nobel Prize, returns to his hometown of Gijón, Spain after decades in exile abroad. There he reconnects with old friends and rekindles a long-dormant love with Elena, a woman he left behind years earlier. Their reunion stirs up memories of Spain's turbulent past under Franco and gives Antonio a chance to make peace with the choices that shaped his life.
