The Assault

De aanslag

1986 · Fons Rademakers

In January 1945, near the end of the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, a collaborator is assassinated outside the Steenwijk family's home, and neighbors move his body in front of their door to shift blame. In retaliation, the Germans kill Anton Steenwijk's parents and brother and take the boy into custody. Decades later, in the postwar years and again in the 1980s, an adult Anton keeps circling back to that night, piecing together what really happened and who bears responsibility for his family's death.
