Sandra returns to her family's ancestral home in Volterra for a ceremony honoring her Jewish father, who died in a Nazi concentration camp after being denounced, she suspects, by her own mother and stepfather. Her return reignites a charged, incestuous intimacy with her brother Gianni that unsettles her unsuspecting husband, as the siblings quietly plot revenge against the family members they hold responsible for their father's death. Luchino Visconti's modern retelling of the Electra myth turns a homecoming into a slow-burning reckoning with inherited betrayal.
