Delphine, recently single after her partner and travel companion breaks off their plans, struggles to enjoy a summer vacation on her own. She drifts between a seaside gathering where she feels out of place, a family invitation to Ireland she declines, and a solitary trip to the Alps that leaves her unfulfilled, all while resisting the superficial rituals of dating. Along the way she hears about the "green ray," a rare optical phenomenon at sunset said to reveal one's true feelings. At a train station she meets a young man, and together they set off to watch for it, hinting at a possible new connection.
