With no actors, story or intertitles, the film follows a cameraman through a day of Soviet city life, from dawn to dusk, filming people at work, at play and on the streets. It shows its own making, from shooting to editing to screening, and uses double exposures, freeze frames and fast and slow motion to celebrate what cinema can do.
