The Tramp falls in love with a blind flower seller who mistakes him for a rich man, and befriends an eccentric millionaire who only recognises him when drunk. Determined to pay for an operation to restore the girl's sight, he tries everything from street sweeping to boxing to raise the money, at the cost of his own freedom.
